Food Storage

When something bad or good happens to you it is usually unexpected. For example, last October, I got sick. It was totally unexpected! My world was turn upside down and then kicked in to a dark corner. As I look back at the time when all this started, I recognize why everything turned out the way it did.

Before my illness, I'll admit I did make some poor decisions, but overall I was living a life that was full of a lot of good decisions. One choice I'm extremely grateful for was the choice to have food storage. As a single person I never thought of food storage. That's something your mom and grandma did. Yet, as I got older and wiser. I heeded to the counsels from the church about the importance of *food storage and because of that decision I gained a testimony of the wisdom of food storage. Most of us think food storage is something to have around in case of a catastrophe, but does a catastrophic event need to occur for us to turn to our food storage? No! Most of us already know this. I've known people to turn to their food storage because a spouse lost a job or had jobs but were unable to buy groceries because finances were extremely tight. In my case, I was sick. So sick, I couldn't get into my car to drive a mile down to the grocery store. I was able to rely on my food storage and not worry about my next meal. It was definitely one less burden. Because of this experience, I will always be grateful for the teachings I received about being prepared for the future.

Above, I posted a great article by Elder L. Tom Perry about the importance of food storage. I hope you take the time to read it!

*My mom harassed me relentlessly! Thanks mom, I love you!

MooMoo!

This weekend consisted of a trip to College Station, Blue Bell ice cream, frozen yogurt, and
of course, the fabulous people in the picture above!

We kicked off our weekend by going down to
Brenham, TX (45 minutes outside of College Station)
to tour the Blue Bell Factory!

The best part of the whole tour was the free ice cream!

More pictures to come!

While visiting my family in College Station, my oldest niece was telling me about this awesome all natural frozen yogurt shop called
Red Mango, and then just a few minutes later my
sister-in-law started telling me about it.
Since two people told me about this amazing all natural frozen yogurt shop within an hour...
I decided I must try it!

When we first walked in I was a little hesitant,
but as I started to discover
what this place was all about my enthusiasm started to take over. Especially,
when I saw the endless choices of frozen yogurt and toppings!

Since this was my first time, I told myself not to go overboard. So, I stuck with the original flavor, but with the toppings I chose to be more creative. I chose a scrumptious mixture of
strawberries, chocolate chips, white chocolate chips.
I just wish I had added the chocolate syrup!
So you can imagine my taste buds were exploding with delight!

Thanks Molly and Joan for introducing me to the Red Mango!

I hope y'all get chance to go!
Because I'm sure glad I did!

Clarity

My first blog! Well, to be honest this is not my first time blogging. There is my family blog which shamefully, I'll admit, I haven't contributed to since November 2008.

So, here it is. My own official blog! I wonder if participating in the blog world is going to better who I am or some miraculous thing occurs once I push "publish post"?! Let's be realistic here, probably not. But, bettering who I am; maybe. Time will tell. I honestly think a person can have a better perspective on life when they record or write about their own experiences whether it be negative or positive. I speak about clarity. Oh, sweet clarity! I know I don't only speak for myself when I say, once there is clarity...there is peace. When I am in a situation that's unclear, even to the point of being doubtful about my ability to comprehend, I know clarity will some how find its way in. For example, margarine or butter? Seriously! Margarine or butter?! I know I am not the only person who has stood staring at the margarine and butter section wondering... which one I should purchase? Which one is better for me--health wise? Which one is less likely to put me in the hospital in twenty years? If you really think about it, it can become mind torturing. So, I do my research, and by educating myself I make a decision from my discoveries. I now have clarity, and with that clarity I no longer have doubt. With confidence I can breeze through the margarine and butter section knowing which one to choose. But wait! What's this?Salted or unsalted? Ugh! It never ends!

To end my first blog posting, I want to say I'm excited to have a place to express my formation of mental objects (thoughts) and to share my extraordinaire experiences with you, as well.
